Hurricane Dorian battered the Bahamas as a Category 5, killing at least 30 people (final death count expected to be “staggering”) and essentially wiping out the place over the course of nearly two days. As Dorian slowly made its way north (moving at just a few miles per hour), it was downgraded to a Category 2, only to quickly be upgraded to a 3 as it moved in on the Carolinas, battering the coast and spawning a bunch of tornadoes. Dorian is now moving northeast at about 15 mph as a Category 1. It is expected to clear the U.S. mainland for good later today and start its trek into the open Atlantic.
